BOOK DESIGN
NAME: INSITIONAL WIDOWHOODSTATEMENT: This project is to introduce the group of left-behind women in China. It is hoped that their efforts and tolerance will be noticed by the society, and that they will be given the social status they deserve, and that the stereotypes about this group will be broken. I made a book and an installation for this project.

I plan to design a book with a special binding. So I did an in-depth research on the daily life of the left-behind women. And I have incorporated the characteristics of their lives into the binding of this book.

These are the interior pages of the book, I plan to use book layout to record a day in the life of this ordinary woman. In the front part of the book, I used the color of the sky to represent the time line. For example, when this woman wakes up in the early morning, the sky is black, so this page is colored in dark gray. When it gets light in the middle of the day, the page changes to a lighter gray.

Through my research, I realized that the houses of the left-behind women's groups have orange bricks, and through my conversations with them, I found out that they like to use plastic bags and ropes to wrap important items for them. So I used orange bricks, plastic bags and string to create an installation to accompany the exhibition of the book.
